Say Goodbye to Statin Side Effects: Did One Man Figure Out How?

As we wrap up February and heart health month. Here is my final heart health-themed post. This post might not be for you, but…

  • If you are on a statin medication
  • If you are thinking about going on a statin medication
  • If you know someone who you love who is on a statin medication

You should read on.

Statins, the miracle cholesterol-lowering class of drugs, are some of the most prescribed medications of all time. Going by trade names like Lipitor, Pravachol, Crestor, and many others.

There is a lot of controversy and conversation around the topic of who should take a statin and who should not, with some folks advocating to add them to our drinking water where others out there crowing to the rooftops that they don’t work and NO ONE should take them…

But the discussion above is different from our topic for today.

Today, we will talk about the frightening “S” word… Side Effects…. That’s two words, but you get my meaning.

One of the reasons some people stop taking statins or concerns they have about starting on this type of medication is that there will be side effects. Some of the most common are:

  • Muscle pain
  • Decreased blood sugar control (think diabetes)
  • Feeling unusually tired or physically weak

If you are reading this post, you probably exercise and have NO desire to have any of the issues mentioned above, which I have heard referred to as an anti-vitality effect… not good, right!

So, I recently had the pleasure of interviewing Ph.D. chemist Dr. Barrie Tan, who may have figured out a way to shield statin users from their possible side effects.

Dr Tan’s knowledge of the topic is genuinely astounding, and it always makes me glad to know there are researchers out there with incredible minds like his working to improve our lives.

If I have piqued your interest, I encourage you to watch or listen to my interview with Dr. Tan. (I will warn you, it is about thirty minutes long but well worth it!)
