Stop Sarcopenia: The Silent Muscle Thief!

That’s right, and it accelerates as you age, so by the time you are seventy years old, you will have lost roughly twenty percent of your total muscle tissue.

OUCH!

The medical term for this muscle wasting is sarcopenia.

The result of this muscle loss leads to FRAILTY.

Frailty is defined as having at least three of the following five criteria: weakness, an unintentional weight loss of 5 percent of one’s body weight in the last year, exhaustion, slow walking, or low physical activity.

Personally, I’m not ready to accept frailty as a part of my future…

So, how do we stop this process? The good news is that there are definitely ways to slow or stop this process. The best news of all is that most of you who are on my email list are doing the most important thing of all to prevent sarcopenia: GOOD OLD FASHIONED STRENGTH TRAINING.

So keep up the good work!

If you are not currently strength training or want more guidance on exact sets/reps and exercise selection to prevent/minimize sarcopenia, check out the new episode of the Form and Fitness channel, The Sarcopenia Six, by clicking the link below.

Let’s stay strong and healthy together!
